Excited to announce that Colores del Priorat will be represented in the Natural Dye Biennial at the Aichi Museum in Japan. The piece to be exhibited is titled Four Season In the Priorat, incorporating 12 various plants, each representing a particular season. The piece is representative of the extraordinary richness the Priorat offers, as expressed through color. The fall is reaching a crescendo, but there are still hidden surprises. A large, deep brown fungus, springing up after a light rain, has yielded a rich, saturated cocoa. And the now in season pomegranates and walnuts add their lush yellows to the palette. The idea for a "Pantone Priorat" project came from my dear friend Cristina Jimenez, of Hotel Cal Llop. Not sure how it will manifest, but the idea is to catalogue and display the wide range of colors to be found on various vineyards. These colors all come from Ficaria Vins, from the red clay of their soil at Els Plans, to the grape skins, and even the pomegranate skins. I have been inspired to create textile "portraits" that attempt to capture the spirit of a vineyard through color and texture. Stay tuned.........
